Šihāb al-Din al-Suhrawardī (d. 587/1191), philosopher and mystic, has developed a theory of knowledge by simple direct, visionary, and intuitive presence. This theory is rooted in a theory of the physical vision.
Mateus Domingues da Silva is Brazilian and lives between Brazil and Egypt.
After his education in philosophy, he completed his studies of theology in Sao Paulo (Sacrae Theologiae Baccalaureus, 2012). He completed his Master of Arts (Semitic studies, 2013) with a research devoted to the study of logic in Suhrawardī’s Kitāb ḥikmat al-išrāq.
As a researcher in the history of Arabic philosophy, he is interested in the illuminative (išrāqī) philosophy, natural philosophy, metaphysics and theory of knowledge. He is a PhD student in Islamic philosophy. Continue reading Mateus Domingues Da Silva, O.P.
