Ethics and Aesthetics in Islamic Heritage

Context

The international PLURIEL Congress took place from 10 to 14 February 2026 in Córdoba, Spain, with a cultural visit to Granada on the final day. The congress focused on the theme “Ethics and Aesthetics in Islamic Heritage”* and was organized by the Anawati Chair, in collaboration with PLURIEL, an international academic network spanning 27 countries and dedicated to promoting scientific collaboration and Christian-Muslim dialogue.

The Anawati Chair offered fully funded scholarships covering round-trip flights, local transportation, administrative visa fees, accommodation in Córdoba, congress registration, catering, and participation in the Granada cultural visit.

The call for applications was open to CEF students and alumni, as well as participants who had successfully completed an Anawati Chair certificate training program. Selected participants were required to attend a preparatory webinar and submit a motivation letter, CV, and report as part of the application process.

Following their participation in the congress, students from the Al-Azhar Center for Teaching French (CEF), including visually impaired students, shared reports reflecting on the congress and the activities they attended. These reports provided an opportunity for the students to share their experiences, the knowledge they gained, and their reflections on the themes discussed during the congress.
