Call for Papers: The Authority of Silence – Constructing the Figure of the Salaf (7th-15th Centuries)

We invite scholars and researchers to submit their contributions for an upcoming conference exploring the elusive authority of the Salaf, the early generations of Muslims revered in Islamic traditions.

Conference Dates: May 2-3, 2025
 Location: Cairo (Idéo and AUC)
 Deadline: January 15, 2025
 Format: Title and abstract (approximately 500 words) in English

Pre-circulation: Drafts will be submitted one month before the conference for discussion.

Accepted papers will be published in the Mélanges de l’Institut dominicain d’études orientales (Midéo).

Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered as needed.
