Conference “The Authority of Silence”

Call for Papers: The Authority of Silence – Constructing the Figure of the Salaf (7ᵗʰ-15ᵗʰ Centuries)

We invite scholars and researchers to submit their contributions for an upcoming conference exploring the elusive authority of the Salaf, the early generations of Muslims revered in Islamic traditions.

Conference Dates: May 2-3, 2025
Location: Cairo (IDEO and AUC)
Deadline: January 15, 2025
Format: Title and abstract (approximately 500 words) in English

For successful proposals, speakers should submit their papers one month before the conference to facilitate publication of a booklet with Arabic translations.

Following the conference, the papers will be published in Mélanges de l’Institut dominicain d’études orientales (MIDÉO).
