Refuting precisely, in his Darʾ taʿāruḍ al-ʿaql wa-l-naql, a text of the Aristotelian philosopher Ṯābit Ibn Qurra (d. in 288/901), Ibn Taymiyya faces a critical question: can we understand God through the Greek philosophical heritage?
